Once upon a time, fairy tales were told as a way to entertain and converse about morality, sexuality, and society. Many of these stories were written down and shared with children around the world. But fairy tales are not just for children. They give us all a vocabulary of emotions and lessons that help us understand the world around us, and more importantly, discover what can be possible if you are brave enough to dream. Even if you fail.
Not so long ago, two siblings started writing songs together inspired by special moments from some of their favorite fairy tales. One wrote the words while the other made the music. We hope you enjoy the stories we’ve woven here, the sweet and tortured moments stolen from life and borrowed from fairy tales, and that you find your own magic and wonder in each.
Rapunzel is locked in a tower when a handsome prince wanders by and catches her gaze. The prince falls in love at once and must reach her at any cost.
Beauty is a captive of the Beast, but she grows to care for him. Can she love him?
Snow White lays cold and lifeless. Her friend looks at her face and reflects on who she has become to him, and what they may never be.
Sleeping Beauty is cursed to death. Her fairy godmother intervenes to soften the curse so that she will instead sleep for one hundred years to then be awakened with a kiss from her true love. In the meantime, the fairy godmother watches over her as she slumbers.
Hansel and Gretel wander far from home and are lost in the woods. As night sets in, Hansel reminds Gretel to look up at the stars and the beautiful things instead of despairing. They watch the fireflies and drift into sleep together, uncertain what the next day will unveil.
Little Mermaid is entranced by the people and the world above on land. She gets an opportunity to be among them as a human, but must pay dearly for this chance.
Cinderella goes to a grand ball in splendor, until the magic wears off at midnight. In her haste to leave, she leaves behind the handsome prince and a glass slipper.

Benjamin and Jennifer Shorstein are siblings who used to bite and scratch each other and now write songs together.
Jennifer surrounded herself with books and music up in a tower. Until one day a handsome prince found her lost scarf, and they rode into the sunset, reading and singing together for all time.
Benjamin was a frog until he was kissed by a princess.
Special thanks to the whole Shorstein family, Kevin Clark, Nicole Nissim Shorstein, and the Brothers Grimm.
